‘Keren Kayemes’

At the time when the heart stops beating, and a precious life flutters to its end, it is the steadfast faith in Techiyas hameisim (resurrection) and the final Redemption that is the sole pillar of support for those who are left bereft. For one who has lost a dear relative, it is only the eternal belief that this world is merely a passage to the next that provides a drop of comfort and solace to a heart bursting with grief. You can do something. ‘In memory of the soul’.
These relatives are not drowning in the endless sea of agony; they are investing of their energy in activities which will elevate the soul of the departed. We at Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim have the tools to help you do this. The reciting of ‘Kaddish’ which gives untold pleasure to the soul, the study of Mishnayos, and giving charity in their memory – these are all practical activities which allow the mourner to channel his grief into something positive, and find solace in the knowledge that he is granting his departed relative spiritual pleasure.
‘Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim’, which concerns itself for every Jew, established a fund especially for this purpose: Keren Kayemes. The fund ‘keeps alive’ the memory of the departed, and under this initiative a Minyan (quorum) of Torah scholars gather each day to study Mishnayos in memory of the departed, and recite Kaddish. The Kollel accompanies the family over the years, dedicating the day of the Yahrzeit together with them.
